Sustainability Story of RAAS Jodhpur

|Sustainability Stories

RAAS Jodhpur stands in the old city with the confidence of a property that knows heritage is not only something to occupy, but something to repair. Its Pinwheel story connects energy, water, waste reduction, local employment, adaptive heritage, and neighbourhood regeneration.

Solar power heats water, air-conditioning is regulated through a Platinum LEED-rated system, and solar-powered cast-iron bathtubs bring efficiency into even the most indulgent corners of the guest experience. Aerators reduce water consumption across the property, greywater is reused in gardens and public spaces, and rainwater harvesting reduces dependence on public resources.

Single-use plastic has been removed across RAAS properties, with glass bottles replacing plastic bottles and refillable bathroom amenities reducing waste. Suppliers are also encouraged to cut single-use plastic, extending responsibility into procurement.

The most striking heritage story is RAAS Jodhpur’s restoration of the 18th-century Toorji Ka Jhalra stepwell. Over three years, the stepwell was revived as a public attraction, cultural venue, and economic catalyst for the surrounding area. Cafés, B&Bs, events, retail, and local activity have grown around it, proving that heritage conservation can do more than preserve beauty. It can restart a neighbourhood’s pulse.

A predominant part of the workforce comes from Jodhpur and nearby areas, and local construction materials, herb and vegetable gardens, organic produce, and local sourcing support a lighter operational footprint.

RAAS Jodhpur’s story is urban conservation with style: a reminder that the best hotels do not merely stand in historic cities. They contribute to their renewal.
