The lodge uses hydropower from the Nepal Electricity Board as its main energy source, with a diesel generator used sparingly and serviced regularly. LED lighting and energy-efficient appliances reduce demand, while aerators, shortened flush options, and measured flow rates bring discipline to water use.

Waste is managed through a reduce, reuse, and recycle approach. Single-use plastic is avoided, filtered water replaces plastic bottles, refillable Ayurvedic toiletries are used, cloth bags and crates support purchasing, kitchen waste is composted or used as cattle feed, manure contributes to biogas, and glass and metal are recycled.

The property’s architecture is designed to sit below the skyline, preserving natural horizons and avoiding visual dominance. This restraint is one of its great strengths. The lodge maintains a low room-to-land ratio, uses local food, organic gardens, compost, natural biocides, and grounds that are not over-manicured into artificial neatness.

Its biodiversity work includes support for the local Community Forest User Group through annual grants, guide support, technical wildlife guidance, and species monitoring, including waterfowl and butterflies. Local style, local materials, cane furniture, artefacts, and village walks preserve cultural authenticity and intangible heritage.

Community engagement is central. All staff come from local villages and Nepal, and the lodge supports schools, women’s group halls, Red Cross facilities, teacher mentoring, health initiatives, and Pack for a Purpose. A dedicated Community Support Partnership Programme works on socio-economic development, education, health, women’s groups, environment, and mentoring.
